Lions claw their way to victory

Storm 72  Lions 79

The Storm had a new line up for the seasons opener due club founder and coach James Brook being absent from this years season. The first quarter saw the Lions get off to an electric start while the Storm struggled to build any offensive momentum. It was only until the start of the second period when John Blythe and Pete Clark began to light it up with a succession of baskets. The Storm managed to compete with the experienced Lions and through heart and energy the Storm took a slender 2 point lead going into half time.

Boston started the 3rd quarter with a succession of baskets and steals, so coach Thomas called a time out to gather his players and inspire them to play with energy and passion. The rest of the second half was a constant exchange of baskets but after a few minor mistakes Boston managed to develop a growing lead with the Storm trying their best to keep up.  The crowd came in to full force willing the home team on and in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter Ben Cundy scored 8 points in a row helping the storm reduce the gap but the experience of the opposition shined through and Boston were able to escape with a victory.

Louth Storm 77
Gainsborough Knights 74

The Storm ( who are currently in joined 2nd place in the league ) started off well

by winning the opening tip and putting points on the board within the first few
seconds.

With the atmosphere high within the Meridian Centre the home team did not want

to disappoint.

On defence they played a 3 - 2 zone, which eliminated the outside

shooters of the opposing Knights.

At the end of the first quarter The Storm had a 19 - 9 lead and the Knights were
getting frustrated by the strong defence they were facing. Starting the 2nd quarter
it became obvious that Pete Clark and Phil Thomas were the two players to go to
for points. Going in to the locker room at the half the score was 38 - 29 to the home
team.
After the break both teams came out fighting for the win. The home team carried
on their strong defence with the main 2 guys still putting the points on the board.
The crowd loved the energy and desire from all players on both teams.

stronger then before and managed to close the gap down with steals, turnovers and

outside jump shots. The Storm had to find another gear and once they got their

heads focused they held out and with both Pete Clark and Phil Thomas scoring 30+

7 Man Storm Tame the Lions

 Storm 54

Lions 47

Louth Storm travelled the 90 minute journey across Lincolnshire to the American College, better know as Harlaxaton. The team would be without Phil Thomas and Pete Clark both of Storms offense weapons! The players composed themselves through the leadership of John Blythe (storms capatain) and it was the Storms intense defense and energy that saw the Storm take and early lead. The Storms big men soon found themselves in early foul trouble and had to rest most of 1st period. The Lions managed to go on a quick scoring run but the Storm controlled the game and managed to keep the lead going into the half. The Storm with only 7 players managed to keep the Lions tamed and maintained their lead and held out for a great win on the road. The storm have won 3 in a row and will look to defend home their home court to the Devils, Wednesday 30th November
